Facetime vs. Ichat

I have a quick question. WIll facetime take the place of ichat or will the two merge?

We use the ichat service on our server and would LOVE to be able to use iphones and ipads
along with macs to be able to communicate or do a video conference. This would be also great
if it was secure as well like jabber is for ichat.

Is the currently possible?
