iStore - Aleppo, Syria... Official/Authorized?

I was shopping in Shahba Mall, a mall located in Aleppo, Syria. In the mall there is a store called the "iStore." The employees there claim that they are the authorized Apple reseller in Aleppo, Syria. Now, the decor of the shop looks very Apple-ish, but the product prices are odd. For example, when I asked about the price of the MacBook Air, I was told that it cost 82,000 Syrian pounds. That is equivalent to about $1800 dollars. Whereas the price on the Apple Store is from $1,000 to $1,600 depending on the size and configuration.

The products they sell are authentic Apple products, but like I said, the prices are awkward.

Their Facebook page is here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=129928357018922
And the Shahba Mall page (where the store is located) is here: http://shahbamall.com/

If this store doesn't represent Apple, then I suggest Apple advises them to stop falsely using their name. Also, if someone from Apple could email me something to give to their manager telling them that they can not falsely use the Apple name, especially when greedily changing prices of Apple products.

Thank you.

From what I can determine, Apple has no authorized representation in Syria. You can if you wish let Apple Legal know about the issue:

but whether there's anything a US-based company could get done in Syria is perhaps questionable.

if someone from Apple could email me something to give to their manager telling them that they can not falsely use the Apple name, especially when greedily changing prices of Apple products.

Apple won't respond to any post here, and almost certainly would not give anyone who is not an Apple employee or legal agent any sort of document to give to an infringing company. Apple would handle such matters only through contracted legal representation.

Regards.

Hello N.Shepherd,

First of all, Welcome to the Apple Discussion forums!

Not sure of the iStore in Syria but coincidentally I was looking online recently during the recent turmoils in Egypt and noticed that there was/is an iStore in a Mall in a city there. I believe it was in a surburban city near Cairo if memory serves. That's kind of odd. I wondered about this store representing itself as an Apple Authorized Reseller as I could find very little information about it.

regards,
