itunes is being foolish HELP

itunes at the very last MB stops downloading the update for my ipad and say that my internet connection has timed out or try again later. i've been trying to download this update for weeks, my ipad still has the orginal 3.2 iso. i put my firewall down and i made sure i have the lastest itunes. i'm in the process of resettin gmy ipad now i'm stuck with an ipad that can't do anything b/c itunes can't download the update. HELP ME please... i need my ipad for school.
