Q: "Accessing iTunes Store" message stuck...

I just installed the upgrade via Software Update and since... whenever I start iTunes it immediately gives a pop-up window stating 'Accessing iTunes Store' and is seemingly stuck. If I hit cancelled, the 'Canceling' message just gets stuck. On top of all this, I am unable to use iTunes and play any of my media as these stuck messages completely renders iTunes dead. What can I do?

okay, lots of people seem to say "reauthorize works" - that's great.

but, my itunes doesn't even work. i get the spinning ball, and itunes is just stuck, with the loading window open. the strange thing is, if i double click on an itunes track in the finder, it will actually load and play in itunes. but, immediatly, it trys to load the store, and is stuck again.

i even turned off my internet connection, and still, i get a window that says "cannot connect to the itunes store because you are not connected to the internet" and then - AGAIN, it is the annoying spinning ball again.

how to get around the crashing problem? then, i can try re-authorize. OR, is there some way to-authorize without itunes? read through the whole thread, and i am not the only mac user with this problem. thanks!

okay, to answer my own question - and for others with this problem - the short answer is wait!

it took about 5 minutes until the itunes store finally loaded, and itunes itself was unfrozen. that is a bit absurd.

    Hi people,

i have downloaded latest iTunes version 10.4.1.10 and tried all the solutions, which were in this discussion. But it did not work for me. When i try to connect to itunes store, the text ''Accessing iTunes Store...'' is still displaying and i cannot find any application or music, searching does not work. I am using Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate. Please help, if you know some solution, which is not written in this discussion and works.

    Thanks very much

Hey! I gave the answer time ago for people with Windows 7 / Vista... Here it is:

    1. Run iTunes as Administrator (MUST)
    2. When it starts, deauthorize the computer
    3. Then, reauthorize it
    4. Close iTunes
    5. Finally when you start it again, the message doesn't show up.

    Simple! =)

    Hi all,

Have you also tried what I mentioned somewhat earlier? My problem was very much the same as yours (could not reauthorize etc.) and only this worked for me:

"Can you go to your Internet Explorer Properties and under Connection settings & the LAN setting below- make sure Proxy is OFF.

I unchecked the Proxy (which I have as activated for logging into my office network) and the Apple Software updater started working. Woohoo !

    Hope this works for you."

I found this on another thread.

If you already tried, than sorry for repeating.

Hi, thanks for you advice, I have proxy OFF, so the problem is somwhere else. Incidentally I was searching the solution, I have seen somewhere, that we need to uninstall the complete Apple software in the right sequence and then reinstall, this is the only solution which I haven't tried. But now I am not able to find it, does anybody know, where to find it?

I tried the same thing as suggested by franpanxop and no luck. My problem appears to be similar but different. When I open iTunes my new iPad1st gen syncs but when I click on iTunes Store the screen comes up iTunes Store but the grey bar on top stops at halfway and just stops. I have tried everything and no luck. I even tried to revert back to an older version of iTunes but then my library disappears because it says it was created by a later version. Now I can't update to the latest version of iPad, search apps, music, or even backup my iPad because iTunes says it can't be written to my computer. STEVE JOBS ... YOU WOULD NEVER PUT UP WITH THIS CRAP... Quitter!!!

    Hi All,

Just wondering if there is a solution for this problem. I have tried numerous things with no luck. Running Windows 7 64bit

    1. Checked Hosts file

    2. Checked firewall and disabled

    3. Reset Winsock

    4. Flushed DNS

    5. Removed iTunes and re-installed using brand new library

    6. can ping itunes.apple.com

    7. Can access iTunes America store on webpage

    8. Tried disabling store than re-enabling in Parental Controls

    9. Tried de-authorising and re-authorising as administrator

    10. Restting IE advanced settings

Not sure what else to try. Starting to be a bit of a pain.

COMPLETE madness... I have done EVERYTHING.. Iphone stuck for backup and Itunes Store stuck.. This happened a couple of months ago and unistalling and re-installing all Apple apps solved it (had to pay for support) but this time NO LUCK.. I will NEVER update Itunes again once by some miracle this is solved. I have never seen something this bad in over 20 yrs using computers..

    Having similar problems since yesterday.

iTunes shows "accessing itunes store" in the "info screen" (area at the top of the window) and it never goes off.

Have tried deauthorizing, disabling the store etc to no avail.  If I try to stop it accessing (white cross in black circle in the info screen) iTunes hangs.

OS X 10.7.2 and iTunes 10.5. No proxies set, tried it on a couple of different internet connections.

Having a few Apple technology issues at the moment...
