Perhaps this will clarify things for you all.
The iPad 2 has 2 ways of putting something up on the screen: AirPlay, and Video Out.
AirPlay supports "streaming" video/audio/photo ONLY via software, over the wireless connection, to a compatible device. There are numerous compatible devices for audio on the market, such as receivers and airplay-specific units. However, you can only stream video to a Mac or an AppleTV currently. Video Out supports video mirroring, which is actually displaying your iPad's screen on an external display. This requires a Apple Digital AV Adapter or Apple VGA Adapter. You can read more about it here:

The only way to truly do a wireless mirror of your iPads screen is with a wireless HDMI transmitter/receiver. As I posted above, you can find one by googling "Wireless HDMI". Since nobody has an iPad 2, this setup has not been tested, so YMMV.
