An internal FaceTime error occurred. There was a problem with FaceTime. You need to quit and open FaceTime again. You have to close and reopen the application". How can I solve this matter?

Same deal for me, and more information about my situation here:

I first installed the beta version late in 2010 and had this problem. Never did get it sorted, just gave up assuming it was a beta glitch. Now that it's on app store I bought it (thinking it would be fixed) but get exactly the same problem.

There's much written about moving around .plist files and setting permissions differently. I can't imagine that should be a necessary part of the install, but still played around with the suggestions.

I'd like to follow the instructions I've seen, but in the application's Launch Agents folder, I don't actually see the file that ends in -ft.plist. Also, in my user account, there's nothing called Launch Agents (meant to be where I copy some files to???).

Has anyone actually taken their machine into an apple store to have them sort this out?

I have a solution for your problem, it took a little investigating and work to get FaceTime for Mac working. Here's what I did:

Go to the folder /Applications then right click on FaceTime.app go into /Contents/LaunchAgents and look for two files "com.apple.imagent.plist" and "com.apple.apsd-ft.plist" and copy them into your /Home/yourusername/Library/LaunchAgents. If you can't find "com.apple.apsd-ft.plist" do a Google search for it and download it, the name will be "com.apple.apsd.plist.txt", do a cmd-I on it and rename it "com.apple.apsd-ft.plist" put this file in the same folder as "com.imagent.plist", launch FaceTime and if your webcam lights up, your good to go.

Hope this helps.

SOLUCIONADO!!!!!!!!!

Forgive me if this is overly simplistic, but it was vexing me for a long time and I'm sure there are people out there just as slow as me.

Make sure your webcam is fully functional. In my case, I had it attached to a peripheral USB hub and it wasn't drawing enough power to operate at capacity. Therefore, Facetime was quitting on me and giving me an error message. Once I attached the webcam directly to my Mac, problem solved.

I was getting the same error, and I could not find the file to copy that others had mentioned. However, I found a fix that works for me. I did a "control + click" on the facetime icon in the dock, selected "options" then "remove from dock". Once it was gone, I opened "launchpad" opened Facetime from launchpad, then when the icon was in the dock I did another "control + click", "options" and then "keep in dock". Now I have no problem opening it. Hope this helps someone else.
