BookEndz or Henge Docks

Has anyone out there had any experience with either BookEndz or Henge Dock? If so, can you let me know your experience and opinion...good or bad?

It seems these two are the most popular, but if there is anything else you know about please share about that as well.

Thanks Much.

Found the answer to my own question via an email from MacWorld. Seems no one on this forum knows much about these things, so here's the link in case anyone else was wondering about BookEndz or Henge Docks.

I'm going go with the Henge Dock; looks like a great alternative to a oversized and over priced BookEndz.

I hear ya...that review from MacWorld could not have shown up in my email at a more opportune time. I'm ready to pull the trigger on something within the next couple days.

Looking at that BookArc you mentioned I'm just blown away at how much that thing costs for as little as it does. I understand it's metal and matches your MBP nicely, but I'm not looking for Form-over-Function, but just the opposite.

I'm only more convinced that the Henge Dock is about the best solution out there for a MBP cable management solution. Unless any one else chimes in on this thread in the next day offering another solution then I'm going for the Henge Doc.

As a owner of two HengeDocks for my Macbook Pro (Late 2008) 15" (work and home) i can proudly endorse them as great products. After a short setup process (make sure you have official, HengeDock, or Moshi brand display adapters, other brands were too large for the slots) i come in and load my computer with no hassle.

Every port (including firewire 800 for my audio interface) are powered and working in no time. HengeDock even has made an app for people who use lots of External Drives and need a quick/safe way to eject them. They work well as advertised, fit snugly, and look very elegant.

The only downside i have seen is my laptop running slightly hotter at all times. This has only really been a problem when running games on my Bootcamp partition. I frankly can't believe that BookEndz charges as much as it does.

That is great information; thank you for your input. I'm glad to hear you confirm what that MacWorld review said about the set up process. I understand it requires some patience, but if you take the time to do it right it will work perfectly.

I purchased a Henge Dock from Amazon; it's due to arrive today actually. There were a few reviews on Amazon from other people and I was surprised at how negative most of them were. I think the major reason why someone might not like the Henge Dock or say it doesn't work well, is because they don't take the time necesary to set it up correctly.

If there is one thing I've taken from those reviews, the review done by MacWorld, and the input from Nico85 is that you need to be committed to setting it up right. If you don't take the time to set it up correctly you'll be frustrated and believe it doesn't work. The good news is that their website had plenty of documentation to help you get it set up right.

I haven't even gotten my Henge Dock yet, but I think I'm going to be very happy with it. I'm the type of guy who will be patient enough to take the time to set it up right; I'm betting I'll actually enjoy the process; especially since it has to do with the setting up of my MBP work station. That being the case, I'm certain it will work well for me.

Good Info.
