Epson P660 - "rastertoescpll failed"

Hi there ppl!
I've searched on web and ppl that got this error, said, uninstall and reinstall, or, just remove from printers&fax and re-add. But this didnt work for me.

Simple the printer was working on a earlier instalation, i've format my mac recently and since then, my printer is not working.
I can see the printer suplys and even send a test page (through the configuration panel), but when i try to print anything that comes from the mac, i just can it gives me the following error:

Error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS /rastertoescpll failed

Any idea what did happen?
Thank you

iMac 27'' i7, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Found the solution.

1 - Go to "Printers & Fax" in "System Preferences" delete the Espon there (PX660, or yours), just click on the printer and then on "-".

2 - Turn off the printer, and unplug the USB cable

3 - Delete:
for printer delete:
/Library/Printers/Epson/ (complete folder)
/Library/Printers/Receipts/<printer name>.pkg
/Library/Printers/Receipts/EpsonPrinterDrivers.pkg
/Library/Printers/Receipts/EsponPrinterDrivers2.pkg
/Applications/Epson Printer Utility/ (complete folder)

for scaner delete:
/Library/Preferences/Epson/Epson Scan
/User/<your user>/Library/Preferences/Epson/Epson Scan
/Library/Application Support/Epson Scan
/Library/Image Capture/Twain Data Sources/ (delete only the items of Epson)
/Applications/Epson Scaner Monitor (*)
/Library/Image Capture/Devices/Epson Scaner

(*) the epson scaner motitor will give u an error. to fix that erro go to:
apple -> System Preferences -> Accounts -> Login Items and then remove the monitor from the list, select it an then "-"

* the names can be not identical, i dont have the english version intalled on my mac, so i donno if the names are correct, any way its easy to understand.

4 - Empty trash and restart the Mac

5 - Download the correct files for your printer from www.epson.com, download the driver and the scaner.

6 - Install scaner, then the driver. Just mount the downloaded DMGs open and execute the only file inside (normaly named Vise)

7 - Go to "Printers & Fax" on "System Preferences"

8 - Turn on and conect usb cable of the printer on the Mac

9 - If the printer show up on list remove it

10 - Click on "+"

11 - It should show your printer, and your scaner (seperatly). If you have more than 1 printer (of the same), in my case i got:
A - EPSON Epson Stylus Photo PX660
B - EPSON Epson Stylus Photo PX660-1
C - EPSON pX660 (this is the scaner)

Add B and C, or if you otherwise add the ones you have.
For me the B and C were the ones that worked, if the B doesnt work for you, remove it, restart the Mac again, and add the A.

It should work now.

Thanks so much. Been a week of frustration with the Epson Stylus Photo R800 both FW and USB wouldn't work...I knew that I had conflicting utilities...so Print Utility 4 wouldn't open/...After trashing everything Epson scanner related (which had no problem with the Snow Leopard upgrade) although there weren't the files in "receipts" but anyway reinstalling previously saved downloaded drivers from Epson, all now works, even the newer print utility. Never did find what the rastertoescpll.app problem meant, but as long as all is working again...especially when the HP on our home network would print across the house....

Thank you Tariq1013. I was surprised but adding a computer name to the System Pref - sharing also fixed our problem! Our error: rastertoescpII quit unexpectedly. PATH: Library/Printers/Epson/Inkjetprinter2/filter/rastertoescpII.app/contents/MacOS/ rastertoescpII.

We are using iMac with OS ver 10.8.4

Epson Artisan 835

Do you have any ready explanation what the problem is and why adding a computer name (where there was a blank) fixes the error? Just curiosity. Thanks again!
