Logic 9 on Snow Leopard is very stable, and with not too many bugs. Why would you want to mess that up? You have $200 you're dieing to spend? I remember it took Apogee 6 months to update their driver for Leopard - I was having kernel panic system crashes every day until they fixed that! (I never knew what the problem was until they fixed it.) Enjoy this period of 'everything working' while you can. Lion OS is coming...

P.S.: When are all the 3rd party plug-ins going to finally get a 64-bit interface? That's what I'm waiting for. Izotope? Garritan?

@21st century Why make such a negative post with the oh so predictable it still makes music comment. What is wrong with you?

First of all all of the 9.... revisions (not updates) were to correct poor programming, memory leaks and bugs. secondly, Logic is currently behind the technology curve. The iPhone gets a complete redesign and refresh every year! why shouldn't Logic?

Do not put someone down just because they want an update, especially when you know nothing of them, their work or their predicament.

In fact, if you have nothing good to say then say nothing at all.

Two to three? 9 came out summer 2009 so it hasn't even been two years yet. And one of the updates added 64 bit support, which is a major update, not a bugfix. Any app is going to be ahead in some areas and behind in others but it was the first audio app to get 64 bit on mac, a year ahead of Cubase, and PT and DP still don't have it.

At this point I'd like to see 10 ship just after 10.7 and be compatible with that and take advantage of the new features (especially adding back in the quicktime features missing from 64 bit).

Let's face it. The Logic team has just returned from their leave to help out with the iPad/Garageband development. Now that that it's done, they can continue on Logic. Do you think it was a coincident that there was no update after 9.1.3 for a while - I think not.

A few month ago Apple sent out a questionnaire to Logic users about features, general directions, etc. I don't think they will implement all that input so fast into a Logic10 release for this year.

Also, the big FinalCut release is coming out soon. If it still has Soundtrack Pro in it then you might think that a few Logic developers might have been borrowed for that for a while.

Last consideration, OSX Lion. I would guess that the next major Logic release will have some hooks into the new OS (40GB LogicPro download from the AppStore anybody?)

Logic10 is coming out when it is coming out, but the developers should please fix some of those current bugs first. Other than that, let's face it, Logic9 is pretty powerful and quite stable.

In which way?

A new version comes out when it's ready, and whenever it's released, some users will say that should have waited and fixed more bugs first, while others will say that it should be released earlier.

Hopefully, it Logic 10 comes some time this year, and hopefully it's quite stable.

Maybe it makes more sense if I replace the comma with a "-"? 😉
By that sentence I referred to the release of Logic 9, which was met both criticism that it tool too long to release it, and criticism against it being released too early.

Logic was the first Mac DAW to go 64-bit, and is know to be much more optimized for high track/plug-in count than the other (Mac) DAWs. The UI/GUI was also overhauled with Logic 8 and Logic 9. Audio editing is vastly improved with Logic 9. So - in what way do you think Logic is "behind the technology curve"?
