Iphone 3gs no right audio output from jack

Hi
Today I noticed that my iphone 3gs does not play the audio in the right earpiece. I tried another 2 sets of headphones, blowed compressed air into the audio jack, made sure was not on mono, inserted the plug into the jack several times, reset the iphone to no avail.
I am thinking maybe the right channel of the amplifier in the iphone is blown. Can this be repaired by Apple? Does it mean a whole new motherboard has to be replaced?
Any idea ho much it can cost?
I feel disappointed by Apple that after paying $879 for this quality product , it has become faulty in less than 2 years of very attentive and careful use.

Anyone got any idea why the audio is not coming out?

Thanks and regards.

Hi Deggie,

Thanks for your reply. I agree with you on this one.

I plugged my iphone into my Panasonic Home Theatre System, that has a built-in LOD socket connector and my audio is playing on both channels without problems which confirms it is not the amplifier but the jack connector on the iphone that has become faulty as you stated earlier. I have been so careful with this phone, never dropped it, hardly used the headphones in the last 16 months. Obviously Apple have really low grade quality in their jack and flex connector. They should really replace it for me even though it is outside warranty considering I paid $879 for this unit in Australia.
