iPhone Bluetooth tether to Bluetooth router for a wifi hot spot

With the iPhone's wi-fi hotspot feature, your computer and iPad will connect to your iPhone via wi-fi to use your iPhone's internet connection via the cellular network. I have not heard of a Bluetooth wireless router and I'm not sure what you are wanting to accomplish with that if it existed.

Even if there were such a thing as a Bluetooth ➔ WiFi router (I've never seen or heard of one), and you have tethering enabled on your phone and cellular plan, I don't believe it would work, depending on the Bluetooth profile supported by the router. The only type of Bluetooth file transfer profile supported by iPhones is a direct tethering connection to the end device. Unless the router appears that way to the phone, it won't work.

If you have an iPhone 4, WiFi hotspot will be supported directly from the phone with the 4.3 update.

Reread the posts. You can't pair or tether the iPhone to iPad with Bluetooth. When the iOS 4.3 update comes out next week, you'll be able to set up a WiFi hotspot on your iPhone 4 and connect it to an iPad with WiFi, not Bluetooth. You will need to have tethering/hotspot enabled on your cellular data plan.

With the wi-fi hotspot feature for the GSM iPhone 4 to be included with iOS 4.3 to be released next week. The iPad will need 4.3 installed as well. With AT&T you will need to required data plan for this which will cost a combined $45/mo for the data plans alone.

Note that the GSM WiFi hotspot feature in iOS 4.3 works only with the iPhone 4. With earlier models, there's no way to tether the phone to an iPad.
