Back to my mac

My remote mac does not appear on the shared list.
All buttons are green in System Preferences
It is checked in Finder preferences
Sharing preferences have been set.
... and I can share screen and connect via 'connect server' but it would be so much simple if the computer appeared in the shared list where other, local computers, appear.
Help.
Thanks

G5 dual 2GHz, MacBookPro etc, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

In which panel? Are you signed into MobileMe? What kind of router is that remote Mac connected to? If it's an Apple AirPort unit or Time Capsule, did you configure the MobileMe panel?

It is checked in Finder preferences

What is "it"?

Edit: I composed the above message on the presumption that you were having trouble connecting at all. Apparently that's not the case, which makes the earlier questions less important.

Do you see your router in the Finder's sidebar?

I have no idea what 'it' is either. Obviously I was having one of those moments.

I have no trouble connecting computers either via 'connect to server' or via screen sharing and it really is not such a big deal but it would be nice to have an automatic connection however what bothers me most is that there is clearly something wrong or something that I'm not understanding. As I said on both computers in the 'back to my mac' panels in the mobile me system preference all three buttons glow red and in both cases file sharing etc have been checked.

When I was away from home last week I could see the Mac at home in the Finder's sidebar. However, if that's what you'd like to see, I'm not sure how much help I can give you. I'll presume that in the "Sidebar" panel of the Finder's preferences you've checked all the "Shared" options. If that doesn't help, I don't have any other suggestions.
