Hello, I have a new Macbook Air with SL OSX 10.6.6 and the CD drive. I also bought an EPSOM printer (all in the Netherlands). On installing the driver for the printer, a warning came up saying thta if I did not first install Rosetta then the installation may not be enitrely successful. So I have hunted around for this elusive Rosetta and tried to understad what the heck it is... Beats me.
Any help would be much appreciated with some advise on How I can get the driver installed anyway whether or not with Rosetta.
Thanks
PS. I do not have access to any of the other computers for the time being.
MAC Pro 2006, MACBook 2007,
Mac OS X (10.6.3),
8Gb Mac, 4Tb, Aperture, FCE, Apple TV, iPad
I managed to install by ignoring the warning about Rosetta however, it seems the warning was there for good reason as while the printer driver installed and I can print, the print job fails with en error saying it can not printer the header or so. Printers always give me grief and having been unhappy with HP and now Canon, Epsom is not proving to be a success either.
Still do not know what Rosetta is or how to download and install it.
Go to the Epson printer support site and look for a NEW Snow Leopard driver to download for your printer. If there isn't one, Epson will show you how to install the latest in Snow Leopard. They updated many of the older drivers over the last year or so. Good luck.
Rosetta is the interface that allows Power PC apps to run on Intel machines and was first introduced in 2006 when Apple switched to Intel processors. You don't need it unless you cannot find an updated printer driver for your printer(s) to use in Snow Leopard. Apple updates their drivers all of the time and the manufacturers do also.
I suggest that you go to the support site for each of your printers and check to see if you have the latest. Your printers may also be included in the drivers that came with your Mac. Apple has instructions for installing printers. It is easier than it used to be..... If you put in the effort, your printers will have most of the designed features working properly. If you don't, you may be limited in what and how you can print.
