Using another window on top of a fullscreen video

I'm taking a correspondence course and part of that is watching instructional videos while taking notes.

I like to run the videos in full screen, but I would like to be able to have my text edit window on top of that so I can take notes without losing the full screen aspect. Is there a way to do this? Thanks..

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Oops, just tried it and it doesn't work. When I go to input text in the stickies window I lose my fullscreen. (Using Quicktime)

Thanks, that's helpful, I just discovered I can also make the stickies translucent too!

I wonder however if there is some kind of workaround or app that will let full screen movies run in the background and you could put any window you choose over it?

To my knowledge, Text Edit cannot do this but if you use Stickies, you can create a note and select "floating window" from the note menu and it will allow you to take notes in full screen

Go in to the Quicktime preferences and select "remain in full screen when player is inactive" under the full screen section
