Wifi - Airport Extreme - Slow connection on iPad

The internet connection on my iPad much slower than my iMac on the same wifi signal, in the same room and the same distance from the Airport Extreme.

Can someone explain this to me?

These are the speed test results...

I have been struggling with this same problem. I have a 1gb Time Capsule (latest version). My iMac seems to get blazing speeds, but my iPhone and iPad have ridiculously low speeds. I have only come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with the Time Capsule and Airport Extreme that does not play well with iOS devices.

I borrowed my neighbors Airport Extreme to see if mine was defective, but I achieved the same results with his unit.

I then replaced the Time Capsule with an inexpensive Netgear N router and instantly was getting 15mbs DL speed on the iPhone and iPad which is about 10x faster than I was getting with the Time Capsule. I have tried many different settings on the Time Capsule with no luck of improving speed.

Sorry I'm no help, but my suggestion is to switch routers. That's what I've done and am patiently awaiting Apple to acknowledge the problem.

Gee, how many time do I have to do:?????
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings
Then restart the iPad.

Remember, EACH TIME YOU LOSE ALL NETWORK SETTINGS!!
Meaning, home, office, anywhere you have established a connection, GONE, re-authenticate, start over, again and again.
This is fine if you had to do it once in a blue moon, but how often will this be the solution until it is fixed?

I remember years ago, using the answer, which can be used for many different things:

"A temporary repair or solution is used until a permanent solution is found".

How long before it is finally a non-issue?

I'm on my iPad 2 as well as various clients, all with this intermittent problem.

I remember changing out routers to an Apple unit, solved most issues, but why, what is going on to create such difficulty?

what you are experiencing might be completely normal if your imac is connected in 5GHz. try to forget your network with the ipad, and try to join it again.

also the ipad is normal to have less download because of powersaving

No I did not try her suggestions as they had nothing to do with the problem I am experiencing. I decided that she posted just to increase her post count as she certainly didn't read my original post. Therefore I decided to ignore her completely.

To put this as simply as I can and as Matt stated earlier, my iPad's speeds are slower when using the AEBS than when I am using my Cisco\Linksys router.

I find this to be ridiculous as one would think that Apple products would work together seemlessly.
