Aperture export versions

HI,

I would like to export versions, and have Aperture overwrite image files that might be already present in the target folder. I have a Linux photoframe in the livingroom, and I would like to update it when I change images. So it would be perfect if aperture would only export changed files overwriting any it finds in the existing folder on the photoframe machine.

Is this possible?

Thanks for any insights.

JOhann,

Welcome to the user-supported Aperture discussion group.

Aperture won't delete things on export. In fact, if it finds a picture with the same name as one you are exporting, it will append a sequence like "(1)" to the end of the new export.

I assume that your Linux photo frame is mounted (or can be mounted) to your machine.

However, you should be able to put together an Automator action to mount the photo frame, delete the contents of the appropriate directory, and then export photos you have selected in Aperture. I have a similar Automator workflow that allows me to export specific pictures to my wife's Windows machine to print on the photo printer that is connected to her computer.

Hi,

I wrote a tutorial on this very subject only a few days ago.

In the tutorial you can get a free export script which allows you to export your files to a windows PC and share your Aperture images out to friends + family as well as your games consoles etc:

If you have any problems with the export, feel free to give me a shout to help you out.

Kind Regards,
Nik
