MBP 2011 and Intel SSD 510

Does anybody have experience with the new MBP and the new Intel SSD 510.

It seems to be no good combination???

I don´t wanna frustrate all the ones who have problems with their Series 510.

My MBP 15" 2011 is still running and running and running....

Up to now since nearly 1 week no Beachball !

AJA System Test still reports (128MB) Read : 330MB Write 270MB

I don´t know if it influences anything : Since beginning I de-activated "Secure virtual memory" in Security Control.

Still motion sensor on, also HD idle is on

I followed jbowry's directions on page one to the letter, and im running fast and smooth. I have a 2011 MPB i7 13 inch, and im using an Intel 510 120gb. Im negotiating at 6gbps and im not getting any unusual disk activity or beach balls. It boots in about 8 seconds. I was already planning on giving this SSD to my dad and heading down to best buy for some turtle drive, but alas, I guess im one of the lucky ones...

There's not point because your on the SATAII connection not the SATAIII

However intel will be releasing a new product soon for SATAII called the 320series, might be worth a look.

With all the new SATAIII drives out and coming out you should be able to get a bargain a slightly older drive...

Have a look at Corsairs F series or OCZs vertex2.. I've noticed the price on those drives coming down the last two weeks.. They are still awesome SSDs

For sure it will work on your late 2009. It will fallback into S-ATA II (3Gbits)

See attached performance infos http://download.intel.com/design/flash/nand/IntelSSD_510_Series_ProductBrief.pdf

If you intend to go for a Intel SSD I would try to get either an 160 GB Postville 2 (X-25M Gen II) or a Series 510. Both of them use 34nm flashes. Series 320 is going to use 25nm. 34nm is more reliable

No, but not because of the C2D. It's because the latest MBPs use SATA3, which is the only way to get truly next-gen sequential throughput. That said, this thread is pretty much all about users who have found that the latest Macs are having trouble with the latest SATA3 SSSDs at full 6Gbps speed.

If you have an older MBP, anything from last year will do pretty much.

I installed my 256GB Micron C400 in my Laptop today to replace my 120GB Intel 510. Unfortunately it has the same problem where sometimes you will get endless loading/thinking indicators. Its unfortunate because the Micron C300/C400 are pretty affordable large SSD's ($400-$450 for 256GB).

Some people who have got their hands on OCZ Vertex 3's (Sandforce controller) say they don't have any issues. I'm not a OCZ supporter, so I may have to look into a Corsair Force GT (Sandforce controller) drive once they come out. The Intel 320 series could be an option too, but its a little disappointing that they are sata 2 and they aren't that well priced yet.

2011 MBP 13" with Intel 510 SSD. Random freezing that gets worse with time and before long the machine refuses to boot. Drive works fine in four other computers.

Additionally, the MBP+512 SSD experiences zero problems when booted into Windows or into Lion. It is only in 10.6 that these problems exist.
