Facetime first time set up

I just upgraded from a 2nd generation itouch to the new 4th generation and trying to set up facetime. I sign in using my apple id and then brought to the second page that asks what email I would like to use. I have tried to activate this multiple with 3 different email addresses (including the one used for my apple ID). Every time it tries to verify I get the same message "unable to verify address. An email with verification link has been sent to the above email address".

None of the email addresses have gotten this email with link. I checked the bulk mail as well as added apple support email to my contact list. I tried restarting my itouch 3 times as well. I can't get beyond the verification screen and out of ideas of what else to do.

help please!

If the email addresses you are trying are working email addresses, perhaps Apple's verification attempts are being blocked by your SPAM or other filter settings.
