Home sharing not updating iTunes play count/ratings.

I got the latest version of iTunes (10.2.1) and have iOS 4.3 GM installed on my iPod Touch 4g and Home Sharing is working fantastic however I've noticed whenever I rate a song on the iPod touch it doesn't carry over to iTunes nor does play counts.

Anyone know why this is and how I can fix it? I even have this checked: http://screencast.com/t/qzSvdLiR1Tc

Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Without knowing some details, I can't be sure but let me see...

Are you playing tracks on the iPodTouch that are LOCAL to the iPod device or are you playing tracks that are on the connected iTunes library via Home Sharing?

If the answer is LOCAL, then I believe only after you attach and re-sync will you see any changes in play counts in iTunes.

If you are playing media NOT on the local iPod, then I believe that the counts SHOULD increase after a full playback of any song, etc.

If I understand the feature correctly, it's intended to track play counts on the songs in the iTunes library even when accessed by remote players (eg: iPod Touch on network using Home Sharing).

I have the same problem.
I've already set this option too.

Me the following happens:
Home Sharing disabled:
* "watch podcast by half" (half blue dot appears), always works. Simply access the podcast that gets the ball in half.
* "watch podcast completely" (blue dot disappears), always works. Just finished watching the podcast.

Home Sharing Enabled:
* "watch podcast completely, " blue dot disappears into the iPod, but will not disappear from iTunes on the iMac.
* "watch podcast by half, " definitive proof that it is a bug, because the ball does not appear blue by half in both the iPod and the iMac.

I hope they fix it fast. I have a podcast with over 100 episodes already played and they all appear to me to have not yet played.

It is too uncomfortable.

ps.: sorry my english, this text was translated by google translate.

@Beavis2084 - I'm not playing them locally on the device. I'm using my iPod Touch 4g to play them over home sharing from my computer. Rating and play counts are not being recorded not even with a full play through of the song.

@Lezz - As I said in my post, I already have that enabled. Also, where did you read that it only updates on other computers and not iDevices? Because it does say "Home sharing computers AND DEVICES update play counts".

I also noticed under the sharing tab in iTunes preferences it says "Status: On, no users connected" even though I am connected and listening to music. This sounds like a bug.

Thanks mifra. But I have to say that it's not related.

When you play a song on the iPhone connected remotely to your iTunes library there is no need to transfer play count because iTunes will know that a song was played and then will increase the play count.

It's not about transfer metadata (which I'm pretty sure it does since you can see all the iTunes library on your iPhone), it's about iTunes not registering other deviced played a song nor even been connected to its library.
