1 client keeps disconnected AFP share

One client is disconnecting every ± 20 minutes from all the AFP shares.
All the other clients are working normally.

On the reconnect the machine can't find the server, but the server is available.
Tryed multiple network plugs.
It is a alu iMac 3 Ghz.

It is happening overnight ... One day it is working the next day it is a problem.

Multiple Systems, Mac OS X (10.5.8), MacOS X Server 10.5.8

Hello Patrick,

I saw this problem not too long ago. In that case we switched to using wireless on that particular workstation and the problem went away. So there was either a problem with the ethernet port on the Mac, or somewhere on physical connections in between where the unit was located and the network room. Do you have a wireless option you can try this on for troubleshooting purposes?

We have tried replacing the computer, network cable, and switch. Nothing appears to solve the issue.

When the issue occurs if you unplug the ethernet connection from the computer and plug it back in the AFP share will remount and the computer will unfreeze.

It appears to be an issue with AFP failing to remount after a connection interruption (without physically removing and replacing the ethernet cable).

similar here with a new iMac added to my 10.6.8 server

created new user, initially tested fine...could logon and mount the volume, saved a file, deleted a file.

Now accepts the password but nothing appears on the desktop.

WGM shows the user logs on, but nothing shows on the 10.8.3 iMac. Created another new user, same deal.

Switched to mounting via SMB and works fine?

...any thoughts?

iMac 10.8.3

Wifi

Mac Mini Server 10.6.8

no special binding etc, just a shared file receptical

1 client keeps disconnected AFP share
