Disable iTunes from Detecting iPhone

I have scoured the internet for information on this issue to no avail. Apparently everyone and their mom is having issues with prevent automatic synchronisation -and that is not my problem.

I have an iPhone 3G, running iOS 4.2.1.
I have a MacBook Pro at home.
I have an iMac at work.

My issue is that I only want my iphone to synch to my personal computer at home. When I am at work, I plug my iphone into my computer to charge it -and that is all. I have had disastrous issues with trying to synch my iphone to both computers in the past. Therefore, I do not even want to risk accidentally synching any information from my iphone to my work computer.

Using the recently updated version of iTunes (v. 10.2.1 (1)), my iphone is suddenly automatically detected by itunes, whereas before it would ask for a password before it would attempt to connect to the iphone. But with this latest update, it just shows up. Nothing synchs (thank God) but I don't want itunes to even know I have the iphone plugged in. I just want to charge my phone.

Any suggestions on how to stop itunes from detecting attached devices?

Thanks!

iOS 4, iTunes 10.2.1 (1)

The setting to prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically when connected is just that. This has nothing to do with iTunes launching automatically when any iDevice is connected. That is a different and separate function.

Since you have a Mac, copied from my previous post.

+Go to System Preferences > Accounts.+

+Select your computer login account.+

+Under Login Items for your computer login account, is the iTunes Helper listed? If so, remove iTunes Helper from your login items list for your computer login account. Don't just deselect it - remove it.+

Connect your iPhone to your work computer, then do the following:
* Inside iTunes, click on the device and then click on the "Summary" tab.
* Under “Options”:
* Remove the check in the box next to "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected".
* Also, iTunes>Preferences>Devices...make sure there is a check in the box labeled "Prevent iPhones/iPods from syncing automatically".
* Eject your phone.
* Close iTunes.

Go to iTunes > Preferences.

Under the Devices tab, is prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically selected?

Go to System Preferences > Accounts.

Select your computer login account.

Under Login Items for your computer login account, is the iTunes Helper listed? If so, remove iTunes Helper from your login items list for your computer login account. Don't just deselect it - remove it.
