AirPlay

So, if Airplay is being opened up, is there a way to airplay videos playing in Safari to Apple TV2? Say, like ESPN360?

I assumed you were doubting that the website has to enabled....

It isn't a matter of doubt, per se, it just seems unlikely that there is anything that could be done on the server side that would have any bearing on AirPlay, unless it's something like using HTML5 rather than Flash, which wouldn't be related to Airplay specifically. I'd like to see the documentation on enabling websites for AirPlay if there is any.

Sorry I'm only able to provide you with details of the video posted by Apple that states this.

I finally understand what you are talking about as I did find some references to "AirPlay enabled websites" on Apple's website, but I can't find any technical documentation as to what that actually means, so I think it's just marketing BS.

It probably means using HTML5 or mp4 files from a streaming server rather than Flash for serving video, and perhaps having web pages optimized for iOS as opposed to using industrial strength HTML. It's nothing new as far as website design goes.

<embed src="movie.mov" width="320" height="240" airplay="allow">

<video controls width="640" height="368" x-webkit-airplay="allow" src="content/side with_theseeds.mov"> </video>

Thanks for the reference. Clever trick adding the airplay tag, making sure that online video won't work with AirPlay unless the webmaster specifically enables it. I'm sure there's a rational reason for disabling it by default rather than enabling it by default.
