After having applied todays 4.3 update onto my ATV2 any videos that i add to the library after the update show up on the tv without the descriptions. Name, Show, actor is all fine, just the descriptions are missing. Any one have any ideas on this?

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Yes I see the same thing, I removed a movie and repopulated, the description disappeared. Although the description still exists in iTunes, I suspect this is an issue in the iTunes update rather than the Apple tv update.

I'm having a similar problem. When I go to play a movie for my children and go to the Children's Genre under movies. It shows only 145 movies which is right but when I open it everything from songs, tv shows, and movies show up. Not children genre either. It had Airplane the movie, Nirvana, Say Anything, along with all my kids movies but I don't know how to fix it. The count under the genre title is right it's only after opening that it displays everything.

Hi guys,

Had the same issue and would you believe just did all the description updating last night before the SW update using: iFlicks, MetaX and cut and paste from IMBD....then updated about 02:00 to find the descriptions all missing again!! (I say all, randomly a few remained that were original MP4 and one .mov)

Anyway I now have all my descriptions back on Apple TV 2!!

I just used iFlicks and the the "Automatically Update Metadata of Selected" in iTunes ran it and one by one the descriptions are showing up in Apple tv (they never disappeared from iTunes). Admittedly this only works for descriptions that are pulled of the internet. I haven't tried editing them yet to see what happens.

Hope this helps some of you. iFlicks gives a free 14 trial with full use. The only issue I had with iFlicks initially was it chose low res pics, but now it seems it is not overwriting my high res pics....I hope!

This is even weirder than I thought. My movie descriptions appear, except for those which were labelled "Unwatched." TV descriptions don't appear, except for cases where all the episodes contained the same descriptions. My genres seem intact; it's just the descriptions that are the problem.

Again, everyone please leave feedback about their metadata problems at www.apple.com/feedback; complaining on this forum won't get it fixed.

Chaulk me up as another who lost descriptions from my tons of movies and tv shows I added myself and spent all the time adding metadata to. The date, title and genre seem to be there just not descriptions. Neither in the movie/show list nor when playing and hitting up twice.

Already reported via feedback,

Was hoping update would give back old grouped listings too. Alas, no dice.

Just to be clear: we're all talking about metadata that is still in iTunes but won't show up in Apple TV, right?

We haven't actually lost any metadata, we just can't see it where it appeared before the update.

I just added a new movie to iTunes, and no, the description I entered does not appear on Apple TV. Cast, director, producer & length all appear, but no description. (Also no Date, but that has never been up there - I don't know why not, as it's rather essential information - perhaps someone who has not yet left feedback can add this to their complaint).
