Seagate Constellation.2
will fit in it. This is a 1TB drive but thicker than normal, 15mm I think.
Thanks

Well I took delivery of one of these today, with the intention of installing it into my 2011 15" Mac Book Pro that arrives later this week. I must admit that when I ordered it, I didn't bother looking at the dimensions or the spec sheet. When I saw how thick the drive was, I thought "oh sh*t this is gonna have to go back"
I thought I had better test how it fits in my current machine so I took the back off my 2010 13" Mac Book Pro. Well whaddya know, it fits. I can get the case back together no problem, but it is a tight fit. I didn't bother installing the o/s as I couldn't be bothered as I'll be doing that on the new machine later this week.
Will post a report of how it goes with the new 15" MBP later this week.
As for the comments made earlier by 'eww', well the manual downloaded from the Seagate website says nothing about this drive being "enterprise" or "workstation" only, and nothing about it not being suitable for laptops.
The only thing that concerns me right now is the drive spin up time. The Seagate manual says 20secs max, compared to say the Western Digital 1TB drive which claims 8 seconds average (WD10TPVT). I'll try it and see how it goes. Am sure it will be fine.
The WD drive is 9.5mm thick BTW and has been working beautifully in my 2010 MBP for the last year but its a little slow at 5,200 rpm. Which is why I just impulse ordered this Seagate drive....

Would be happy if you could post some benchmarks and impressions of the drive. What about the performance, vibrations and loudeness?
The Constellation.2 fits in to MacBook Pro. Not really perfect, but it fits. Unfortunatly: The drive requires 12V power supply. That's the k.o. crtiteria for Mac Book (and the most other notebooks).
