java 4 update error

java 4 update error

Hi there,

I was installing my java update 4 for mac os X 10.6 and I had the following message: "The update "java 4 update for Mac OS X 10.6” can't be installed" An unexpected error has occurred."

Tried to install the standalone either, without better results.

Anyone can help me?

I have this error too
And found in logs:

i have had exactly same error and I am baffled for a solution as is it now causing same error on all updates through the software updater.

this problem only with Java
uncheck it if you need update another software

all the other updates are okey. Just java still failing.

I've noticed that the java preferences does not work anymore too.

I have some home banking aplications that stopped working on the chrome after I tried the update as well...

I had this error as well. But, surprisingly, after one more attempt, I was able to download and install it.

I'm using drjava recently for my study and I wonder is this issue related to drjava...?

I have same also...

Open error 62: "Too many levels of symbolic links" on System .....

after doing a reinstall update from pacifist...

How do we fix this?

Download and install the 10.6.6 COMBO update and try the Java one again.

I tried to install combo 10.6.6 and still not working :-/

the error seems to be the same:

Hi All,

well what worked for me was this...

1 - backup hard drive
2 - reinstalled OSX from master disks - took me back to 10.6.3
3 - ran 10.6.6 combo updater
4 - ran software update - but DID NOT update JAVA!

PROBLEM SOLVED!

sudo unlink /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/CurrentJDK
cd /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions
sudo ln -s Current CurrentJDK
