error when trying to access keynote presentation saved as ppt
When I export my keynote presentation as a power point (.ppt), I get an error message that states "there was an error accessing Macintosh HD:Users:" and then the rest of the file path. I am trying to save the file onto the desktop but it doesn't matter where I try and save it, I still get the error.
I've been having this problem for months, and today I think I finally found a solution. Try ungrouping all of the objects on your slides and master slides. Then, save the file, export to PPT, and open. It's worked a couple times for me now.
Btw, I'll caveat that I have a different error message - mine says that the file needs repairs, and then I get the file path error.
Thanks for the suggestion, although as you mention, my error message is not the same. Also, I have a 5-hour lecture with 152 slides so I'm not jumping up and down about the prospect of going through them all again and ungrouping all the objects. I may try this as a last resort if I don't hear another answer soon.
While I don't know why this happens, and you're not the only one with this problem, it has never happened to me. I don't think it's because of clean living 😉 , but perhaps something problematic about one or more of your slides, but perhaps not all of them. See if you can break up your presentation into smaller parts, try exporting a few of of them. If one or the other group works fine, it'll help you narrow down the problem.
I have created an entirely new presentation with just a couple of slides from the original one and I am now able to save and access a .ppt version. Now I just have to find the offending slide or slides in the original keynote version.
