Weird issue since installing iOS 4.3

Since I've installed iOS 4.3 my iPod Touch 4 (only about 8 months old & perfect condition) has been acting strange. It's hard to describe this issue but I've noticed little glitches here and there with some of the artwork/graphics of the OS.

For example when my iPod is locked, on the locked screen at the top (menu bar) the lock icon becomes snowy/glitchy. I've had this happen when notifications pop up there is a background outline of a square that is also snowy.

The graphics for some reason have a snowy and animated outline. This iPod is not hacked or dropped or anything I don't understand why this is happening. I've turned it off and turned it back on and still having the issue.

It is NOT a major issue, it is odd though and having issues with the display on this type of device still can't be a good sign right? I've never seen this anywhere before so I thought I'd ask on here. It does go away after a few seconds.

Here are some photos I made in Photoshop to simulate what I mean. Notice the static "noise" around the icons. Sometimes they actually flicker in an animated motion and are even bigger at times. This has only happened with pop up notifications and the lock icon as simulated. This has only happened when the device is sleep and I press the home button to find it spazzing out. It's always random, which is why I have no actual photos. When it did happen (about 4 times this evening so far) it was idle for about an hour or so until I bothered with it. If I messed with it after being idle after maybe 5-30 minutes it's normal. Other than that this issue never happens and I've a heavy user of the iPod. Here are the photos:

Yes I've tried holding both buttons and having it restart. If I restore what do I restore it to? All the way to the beginning, factory default or before the update? Do tis by pressing restore on that main screen in iTunes right?

Also will apps like IntoNow (that seems to store data locally) lose all it's data? I wish I made the title more detailed but I hope apple fixes this if I can't.

Hi,
if you hold those two bottoms at the same time, it will simply reboot without any loss of data. It did the job for me, so I hope it will solve it for you as well. I had the exact same visual glitch you had. You need to hold them together for about 10 seconds, and then the "apple" will appear and it will reset.

Edit: I am not sure what happens if you restore it ... I guess you will lose the data unless you back it up somehow. Well, this is the limit of my expertise 🙂 I am new at Apple iOS myself 🙂

In regards to restoring no you won't lose any data as long as
1. You've allowed iTunes to make regular backups, you can make one manually by right clicking on your iPod in iTunes and clicking back up.
2. All of your media syncs automatically and everything is still in the iTunes library
3. The apps you're talking about have been written in a way that your data gets saved in the backup too. Most of them are, but I can't guarantee anything.

I can't see how a restore will fix the problem though, the software was fresh out of the box last night so it's not like much could've happened between then and the problem occurring. Personally I'm just going to sit it out and see if anyone comes up with a better solution.

In response to giloi2007: you are correct, and I should not have counted my chickens so early! I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. I rebooted the iPod, as I wrote earlier, and it "fixed" the problem for 5 hours. I listened to music, read the news, played Scrabble, and checked the lock screen many times for glitches: and nothing .. it was all looking fixed.
However, I just did an app update for EBAY and LinkedIn, and the PROBLEM IS BACK. It must be triggered by something, potentially related with apps updates in the new iOS 4.3. I really hope APPLE figures something out. It appears to be a real bug. Thank you all!

Well I'm totally restoring my iPod now from scratch. I'm sure there will be a lot of data loss but oh well. I could not find an update to a date before the I installed the patch. I will continue to check here and try different things until the problem is solved. As far as the app updates, this happened before I updated any apps. This was instantly after the patch.
