Updated A2DP profiles in iOS 4.3 causes problems?

Hi,

I've been using the Nokia BH-905i Bluetooth headset together with my iPhone 4 since the day I bought it. Excellent sound quality and all the controls - volume up/down, start/stop, next/previous and answering calls - all worked flawlessly until... I upgraded to iOS 4.3. Now the sound is to about 90% shifted to the left earcap when listening to music or answering calls. Tried them on a friends iPhone 4 that still runs iOS 4.2.1 and no problem.

I have reste the phone and the headset a number of times but to no avail, the problem is still there.

Anyone else experiencing something similar after upgrading to iOS 4.3?

Any ideas if there is a fix?

best regards,

/Max

I just got the bh-905i so I don't have any experience on anything other than 4.3. My headphones don't seem to have the "left side bias" but they do have another annoying problem. When I am listening to music and I pause, using the switch on the headphones, and then at some point soon thereafter I press play again - it will play for a short while (10s to 1m) and then cut out completely like the connection has been list from the phone. I can't control anything and if I go to the phone it is still playing, and I can't cause sound to go back to the headphones. The only thing that seems to solve it is to turn the headphones and/or iphone off and then back on.

Anyone else have this problem?

My problem is similar and I'm trying to determine if it is the BH-905i or iOS 4.3 that is the problem. Can pair up and play and everything sounds great, but after some period of time the sound will stop coming out of the headphones. The Bluetooth icon shows it as paired but the option to select the output source in the iPod app is gone. Powering off and repairing doesn't help as the phone shows paired but still sends no sound to the headphones and has no output select icon in iPod. The only thing that fixes it is to cycle the Bluetooth off and backon, start the iPod player, and then turn the headphones on.

What do you think? Is this an iOS 4.3 bug or is there a problem with my 905i?

No, it doesn't when streaming via A2DP. Not a real big deal, though steering wheel control would be nice. Kia makes a cable to plug an iphone/ipod into the built in USB/Aux inputs that is required to control it from the steering wheel. I'll probably spring for it. Makes sense since I have to take it out of my pocket to control the music streaming anyway.

I'm not sure but I suspect the iPhone 4 might be controllable via bluetooth. I'll have to ask some friends who have them.

I just got the Nokia BH-905i yesterday. My iPhone 4 is already at 4.3.1. I have the same exact issue as you. The left side of the headset is noticeably louder than the right side, with the right side sounded muffled. Just like you, it happens when listening to music or answering calls. Out of curiosity, i also tested my wife Sony DR-BT50 headset. Same problem! Because i had used the DR-BT50 headset prior to updating to 4.3/4.3.1, i know this issue did not exist back in 4.2.1.

The only fix appears to be letting Apple aware of this issue and hoping a fix will come along in a future iOS update.

This happened to me several times today already (i got my BH-905i yesterday evening). After listening to music for several minutes, the sound would disappear and even though my iPhone 4 is still connected to the headset. At this point, it appears iPhone lost awareness of the headset as a A2DP device but instead is using it as a headset for calls only. This is what i did to get around this problem:

- Disconnect BT (turn off BT on iPhone and headset)
- Power off iPhone and then power it back on
- Turn on headset
- Enable BT on iPhone
- If headset does not connect automatically to iPhone, press the play button on the headset. If that still does not connect, go to the BT menu on iPhone and connect manually.
