Disable Junk Mail?

Does anyone know how to stop Mac Mail putting items in the Junk folder? I've turned it off in the preferences but it still puts items in the Junk and most of the items are genuine emails and it's having a serious effect on my day-to-day use now.

MBA 11", MBP 15" i7 2011, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

You may want to check Rules to see if any are made that would bypass the junk filter. Also, you can check to leave junk mail in the Inbox.

Are you sure it is turned off? Is the Junk Mail folder removed from your account preferences?

Thanks for the quick responses. I don't have any rules setup at all and I just un-ticked the Junk Mail option. I've also checked each individual account and Junk is not ticked on any. Do I need to physically delete the Junk folders then?

I don't think you need to physically remove the mailbox. I don't even think you have the option. If you unchecked the enable junk mail filtering from the preferences and you checked to leave the junk mail in the inbox, see if that works.
Also, quit Mail and restart it to make sure the changes take.

To be honest I've never ever had Junk enabled and I've put it down to maybe my iPhone doing it where I don't seem to have any options. I've deleted the Junk folders though ok so I'll see how it goes.

Sorry to blow the dust off an old thread but I am experiencing this issue and I'm scratching my head. Using El Capitan, Junk Mail filtering is disabled in Mac Mail but it is still throwing messages into a junk mail folder. I also am chalking this up to the iPhone but wondered if anyone else could shed any light on this topic.
