Will an iPod Touch 2G fit into a 4G's case?

I am buying an iPod Touch 2G and want a case for it but nearly all of them on sale are for the 4G, so will a 2G fit into a 4G case?

It may not fit since the 4G is thinner. You can check the iPod dimensions here and se what you think.

thanks, the dimensions are pretty much the same except for the depth, i will ask if he's got a case too or just get one online

will the 2g touch still update? will it work on my computer even though my friend used it on his one before (both are PCs) when i reset his ipod and plug it into my PC, will it change all settings and system info?

The iOS for 2G iPod stops at iOS 4.2.1. When you connect it to your computer a message should come up saying it was previous synced to a different library and offer you some option. Select the option to erase it and replace it with the contents of your itunes library.
