No Personal Hotspot? Solution here for all carriers.

i Updated to 4.3 but i didnt have the personal hotspot option...
i tried looking what you posted here but there isnt such a thing called internet tethering apn

Hi, I just update my Iphone 4g to IOS 4.3, I go to SETTINGS>NETWORK>CELLULAR DATA NETWORK BUT I don't have a internet tethering APN, only have CELLULAR DATA

same here, no internet tethering option too. also, how are you suposed to copy the info? there is only the option to turn it on and off!

If you have an iPhone on contract or network subsidised device your network provider CAN and many do lock out tethering funtionality as part of their business model.

To activate tethering on these iPhones requires the network to send an SMS message to your phone with requisite unlock codes and for which the said network may well apply a charge and additional monthly subscriptions.

Further in these domains the network will conceal APN configuration panel from you to prevent you from modifying it.

In some domains Apple and network carriers Sell iPhone completely unlocked and pre configured with internet tethering (now personal hotspot) available in which case you have access to the APN configuration panel.

This is all about revenue generation by those well known benevolent organizations commonly known as mobile telecom providers (ATT , Vodafone(Verizon) , Orange(France telecom), and T-Mobile (Deutsche telekom) and O2 (Telefónica) that dominate the global GSM networks.

Those four plus AT and T via regional affiliates and subsidiary companies probably account for 80% of mobile traffic around the world.

Does anybody knows if the Personal Hotspot funcion is available under the 3G networks of France and Italy? Is there any carrier in these countries that is allowing the personal hotspot function?

I will travel to France and Italy and I'd like to know witch carriers are allowing it.

Tethering plans are available in France for a fee...

I don't think they're available with prepaid cards though
