Outlook 2011 unable to send emails

After installing Safari update 5.0.4 Outlook for Mac 2011 can no longer create new emails or reply. Spent 20 minutes on phone with Microsoft and they say the in some cases the install of 5.0.4 creates this issue. They say installing Safari on top of the current install will not work. I have downloaded the new version to my desktop, but now need to uninstall the 5.0.4 update done earlier.

How do I do a complete uninstall of Safari 5.0.4

Microsoft insists that just installing over the current version will not fix the issue. I have verified that they are correct.

Thanks.

Hi,

Try deleting Safari cookies. Click Safari / Preferences from the menu bar then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies. Delete all Microsoft / Hotmail Cookies.

Empty the Safari cache, from the menu bar, Safari / Empty Cache.

Now open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities). Select Passwords on the left. Delete your Hotmail keychain. You can use the search field top right corner of the KA window.

Relaunch Safari. go back to Safari / Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Make sure: User names and passwords is selected. Try Hotmail.

You may be better off setting up your Hotmail account using the Mac Mail.

I'm having the same issue today as well. I completely removed Office 2011 and re-installed per the instructions on Microsoft's site and it didn't resolve the issue. It wasn't until I completed that that I realized that it was related to the upgrade of Safari.

I can't find any fixed online yet. Please post if anyone finds a fix. I feel lost without Outlook.

I used the solution from chadl2, but it has a slight procedural flaw.

Do not delete your Safari until you have downloaded the new version to your desktop. Once that is done, you only need to place the existing Safari into the Trash from Applications. You do not need to empty Trash until you have successfully uploaded the latest version and it is working.

Hi solution works great though... thanks !
