How do I transfer apps from my phone to iTunes on my PC?

I would like to transfer the apps from my iPhone to my Itunes on my computer so I have them saved in two locations. I did this a long time ago but I can't remember how. My iTunes on my computer only shows 63 of the 72 apps that I have, and some of the apps that it shows are apps that I have long since deleted from my phone. What can I do so the apps that show in iTunes are the same as on my phone? Thank you!

Downloading a free app is considered a purchase for accounting purposes - Apple sends you a receipt to the email address for your iTunes account for all apps downloaded - for paid and free apps.

The Transfer Purchases option is for transferring iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store which includes free apps.

If you have Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes which should be selected for several reasons, after downloading an app with your iPhone the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so.

Do you have one iTunes account? Were all apps downloaded with the same iTunes account?

An app can be re-downloaded from the iTunes store and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.

What apps do you have that you didn't get from the iTunes store? It's not possible to get them any other way unless you've jailbroken your phone.

If you got them using iTunes on your computer, they're already on the computer, if you got them from the App store on the phone, this will transfer them. The only exception is if your phone and iTunes are not activated with the same iTunes account.

I dont know if my problem is simular, but I cant find out how to post new questions.

I got a new iphone4 yesterday and it was faulty to I now have a replacement.

How can I sync it so that all my contacts, apps (both free and paid for) are downloaded onto it?

I have connected it to Itunes and it does a quick sync but the standard apps only appear on it.

Are the apps that I have downloaded and paid for saved anyway? I have read that they are and the guy in the shop advised that it is a simple process... well it isnt for me!

Any help or suggestions would be greatly received... slowly loosing it with iphones!

All 3rd party apps on your iPhone - that were on your iPhone that was exchanged/replaced should be in your iTunes library on your computer along with all other iTunes content that was on the iPhone.

If you have Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes which should be selected for several reasons, after downloading an app with your iPhone the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so.

Although contacts are included with your iPhone's backup, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book app on your computer. Your contacts should be available on your computer with or without an iPhone or any cell phone, which can be lost or stolen.

When connecting a new iPhone to iTunes on a computer that was being used to sync with another iPhone, you should be prompted to transfer the backup for the previous iPhone to the new iPhone as the very first step. This must be followed by a sync with iTunes to transfer your selected iTunes content from your iTunes library to your iPhone - music, movies, tv shows, podcasts, and 3rd party apps.
