Using VMWare with iMAC

Hi We are relatively a new bunch of users where I work. We are predominately a Windows based site but have purchased # 30 iMACs. We want to install VMware on our MACS. Our question is.. Can we create an XP image and install it on our virtual volume on the MACS using Symantec Ghost? Did that make sense?

iMAC, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

I would be better to use VMwares PC image tool to move the image to Fusion under mac. It works perfectly to move the entire image.
