Has Anything Replaced Open Firmware Password?

Well, how about NOW????
Information in that older Apple support document still applies. Intel-based computers use Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI), while Open Firmware is used in computers that have PowerPC processors - the article listed which computers can use the Open Firmware Password application.
Now that you are running Lion, you can use the Firmware Password Utility after booting into the recovery partition.
The article is so vague about the application usage with the newer MacBooks and Lion.
So as I understand I can use "Open Firmware Password.app" from 2001 on newer Macs regardless wheter they use Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) or the older Open Firmware standard, Right or wrong? That there is no other application written just for Intell Macs using Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI)... Right or wrong?
Or, are you saying that there is newer version of the utility built into the Lion Recovery sofware and I shouldn't use the older standalone application?
I wish Apple would provide a newer article written specificaly for Intel (EFI) Macs....
