Lost Keyboard

I have lost the keyboard. I was updating applications and when the pop down came up to enter password I pushed on the area to enter, expecting the key board to appear. No key board. I tried Pages and the same thing occurred, no key board. What do I do?

Hi Robert,

Try restarting the iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

If that doesn't help, try resetting the iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

A system Reset cures many ills and takes but a minute to perform:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.

A Reset does NOT delete apps, photos, movies, music or any other data. A Reset does NOT delete any settings for email, network access, etc.

Also, you might wish to download the 4.2 User Guide. Pay special attention to page 170.
