Q: Connection Failed error repetition

I had this same error a year or two ago, solved it, but can't remember how. When I open a recently created AppleWorks 6 Draw file I get a dialog box error that says...

+Connection Failed+
+The server does not exist or is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and your network connection and try again.+

It just keeps coming up whenever I try to work with AppleWorks and stalls the application big time until I select "OK" on the dialog box. Then it reappears, I select OK, get a wee bit of work done -and- ditto. Same routine over again.

I solved the issue in the past and now can't remember how I did it - so, I'm on this forum.

Oh, and I unchecked the box for opening recent files in preferences. Then the error stopped popping up the whole time.

If you mean the error stopped after you made this change, I'd suggest clearing out your Recent Items folder. As a common (and useful) housekeeping routine, I'd suggest clearing all but a few items from the Recent Items folder on a regular basis.

You'll find the folder at username > Documents > AppleWorks User Data > Starting Points > Recent Items.

Trash all, or all but the few most recent, items in the folder. These are aliases to the actual files. Trashing the alias has no effect on the original file.

    Barry
