iPad 2 Shipping from Online Store?

I went to the Apple online store to buy the new iPad2 and the store said it takes 2-3 weeks to ship?? Will it really take that long or do you think it will ship sooner?

One of my accessories is in eastern Japan on the island that was hit by the earthquake. Another accessory was supposed to be picked up in China but hasn't been picked up yet. The ipad still says prepared to ship and who knows when it really will ship. Don't expect any deliveries this week I don't think. Wouldn't you think they would have shipped a bunch of ipads to the US before the 11th and then had them delivered from the US? Would have been quicker that way.

I suspect the iPad that did make it to the US went to the stores, not a backup warehouse.

I ordered my ipad 2 64 GB WiFi + 3G (AT&T) on Mar 16, 2011 at 04:45 PM PDT Of Course it says 4-5 weeks for shipping estimated date is April 23rd for delivery. I am just not sure if it will actually take that long, I am hoping NOT!! I think it's funny that Apple is rarely prepared for these HIGH DEMAND releases. Hoping that I get mine earlier than the estimated date, anyone think there is a chance of that?
I went to BEST BUY, Target, & Wal-Mart on release day but NO ONE got the model I wanted. Best Buy made me believe they were going to get them in I just had to put down $100. I finally decided to just order from the online store. Let's HOPE it ships early, I am still going to check out the Apple Store next weekend when I am around one, HOPEFULLY they have one in stock but I doubt it

I am sure you will get the ordered iPad2 as soon as it is available. This is an unprecedented coincidence of a great product, unusually high demand, and supplier crunch due to component makers in Asia. I ordered a white 32GB wifi iPad2 online on 3/11/11 at 12:49 PT and am first getting mine 11 days later 3/22/11. It's a problem for those who want it fast, but it is a nice result for Apple, who will now make every effort to ramp up production.

I order my iPad 2 on March 11. It's being shipped in five different shipments each one must be signed for or you have to pick it up at the FedEx office. So far I got the keyboard and camera connection. The iPad 2 is not expected to ship from the Chinese mfg. facility at Shenzhen until April 1.

I agree that demand is high for the iPad 2 WHO couldn't see that coming though? I mean if they sat around in their meetings about iPad 2 and didn't think it would be in high demand I would be shocked. I just hope it comes quickly! We shall see

Apple is too big a company not to have anticipated that the demand for the Ipad 2 was going to be very high. The launch of the original Ipad should have been a reference for them. They have us since there is no comparable device and we all want the Ipad 2.

I ordered my ipad 2 on March 19; they are saying it will ship only on april 25 ... anyone has experience of Apple shipping before the date they commit or do they usually ship only on the date they commit?

I ordered my Ipad 2 on May 23rd. It is supposed to ship out on June 7th and then be delivered June 13th. Is anyone elses package taking this long?

I ordered on May 27th shipping on June 13th delivery on June 17th. I don't have a clue why it would take so

long. When I ordered it said ships in 1 to 2 weeks.

After reading quite a few posts, it looks like most people are receiving them between 3 and 5 days earlier than the estimated delivery date. It's been my experience that the delivery time is generally less than estimated.

Ordered a 64GB wi-fi last night (5/31/11) and it shows it will ship on June 14 with delivery on the 20th.

My bet is I get it earlier than shown based on a few other folks I've talked to throughout the U.S.
I'm sure they'd rather get it to you earlier than they originally mention instead of telling you a date they know they cannot make. Apple is not alone in doing this.

Gotta say, what a problem to have for Apple, huh?
