how to watch youtube videos on safari on new Macbook Pro 2011?

Hi,

I just got my new 15" Macbook Pro 2011. But I can't watch youtube videos on safari. I am using Mac for the first time. I googled a solution about changing settings in safari (open in 32-bit mode and enable rossetta or something). It still does not seem to work. I will be very disappointed if youtube does not work on Mac since I spend a lot of time watching youtube videos. I just switched over from Windows. So I don't have any idea about Mac OS.

Also, in Windows, I can traverse word by word in any text editor (notepad, IE, MS Word) by clicking "control+right-arrow" or "control+left-arrow". Is there any such keyboard short cut for Mac?

Thanks in advance for your help,
JGD

Hi and welcome...

Most YouTube content requires the Flash plugin.

Try the troubleshooting help here.

And try repairing disk permissions.

Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done.

If you see any warnings re: SUID messages, they can be safely ignored, information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US

Restart your Mac.
