Q: Significant light leakage, few light botches on sides/corners  - defective?

Actually I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but thought I'd share my experience here. Very disappointing, but certainly completely usable until I can exchange.

Hoping it's one of those strange manufacturing things where it "needs to settle," but I doubt it.

Note that I have an iPad 1 also, and it definitely doesn't have this problem.

I have no need to see any E-Mail. And now that you are dealing with the top dog, you can stop bothering the users here on the forum? I mean, there's no longer any need to complain here, since Steve is reading your e-mails, right? Isn't that basically what you wanted? Someone at Apple to listen to you?

I'm here for the same reason. Got my iPad on launch day, and immediately saw light leakage when I turned it on. Waiting for the dust to settle before I take it in. Hopefully there is some kind of response from apple soon.

I emailed jobs and cook and I got a phone call from their executive response team within a few hours...There's tons of reports on various sites of jobs corresponding with people...they are good guys, and Apple has probably the best support in the world -- but they're not telling us what we need to know -- when will they start shipping devices that do not have defective screens. I guess it's pointless...they don't want to make the issue public and have everyone panic...At this point it's just "Wait and see" -- but I digress to my earlier point -- if anyone actually gets a GOOD iPad 2 without a display problem, PLEASE let us know and PLEASE take a picture of it! This is very important.

    Here's my history so far.

Picked up an iPad 2 in Austin on day 1. Backlight bleeding.

Returned and got a Second one in Washington DC. Backlight bleeding.

Returned again in DC. Third one had no backlight bleeding (amazing!) but 3 dead pixels.

Returned AGAIN for 4th iPad 2. Backlight bleeding.

Mine is not scheduled to ship until April 11th. So I'm just going to keep reading and if they don't have this resolved before then, I will cancel and enjoy my iPad 1 until they do.

I just got back from getting my 3rd iPad 2...

Still have significant blacklight bleeding even on factory 50% brightness.

I am going to just return the product as a whole and wait for a month or so for the issue to be resolved. Tired of wasting my **** time!

iPad-2 Light Leakage: Just wanted to document that my new ipad 2 has visible light leakage, as viewed in Safari with a black screen you can see it along the lower & upper left corners. It looks more of a yellow tinge and barely noticable. I understand supplies are constrained right now and the ipad is definitely usable & i will wait for a latter date to exchange this as supplies come available and no lines to wait in. Can't blame Apple, and still very happy with product. If it was the settling of the yellow tinge matting sufaces, it has not changed since the launch date, but will wait and monitor to see if it gets better or not.

It's an iPad problem. I waited in line for 3 hours and then I got this issue on my new iPad. I brought it back a week later and the store told me they were out of iPad 2's, but after talking to them they went to the back and got me a new one and this one has the same problem. I think I will wait a month or two now to get a new one to see if they fix it. I would love for apple to address it.

I too have this issue. Just got my iPad 2 wifi 64gb black model on Sunday and after reading rumors I went to a black screen and sure enough, clear as day I have light leakage in about 4 spots bad! I have a picture as well. I will be expecting a replacement from apple once they fix this issue.

I'm a leaker too... I'm on my second iPad 2. Have Apple care on it and will wait for a little longer before ordering a new replacement. The closest Apple Store is 45+ minutes away.

Apple is sending me a brand new replacement to my residence. I was on my third iPad 2...they are sending me my 4th.

The executive relations team said it should meet Apple and my standards.....well chosen words PR team!

If it still comes out having the issue I am going to just return it. Such a hassle.

Just wanted you all to know I received my ipad 2 yesterday, and there is no light leakage at all. I did the test, took it into a dark closet, had the brightness all the way up and went to a black screen. Mine seems fine. Now I just have to figure it all out!
