Ive got a Ipod 1st gen and I plug it into my computer and it doesn't do anything.
Also before this happened, which just happened, I would plug it into my computer and nothing would happen unless I lifted up on the end part of the cord that connects to my Ipod. And now it just wont do anything at all. Can anyone please help me please? I have music on there that I'm transferring to my new computer because the old one crashed, the only back up of the Music is on my Ipod.

please someone help i cant afford another one and i dont wanna lose over 800 songs

It sounds like you dad a marginal cable since you said "unless I lifted up on the end part of the cord that connects to my Ipod". Now it appears that the cable fully failed. I would try with a new cable, borrow a friends cable to test or make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store.
