IPad 2 Will Not Connect

I just purchased the IPad 2 and the wifi will not connect to my router. My first generation IPad works perfectly fine. I have been on the phone with apple support for 1.5 hours with no resolution. Is anyone else having this problem? I stood in line for 2 hours to get this, spend 1.5 hours on the phone tonight and am getting very frustrated.

You may have already tried this but, if not...
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

Also try a System Reset:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.

Finally, you might wish to download the iPad-2 User Guide. Pay special attention to page 162.

A less thorough version of the Guide is included as a Safari bookmark and a more thorough version of the Guide can be downloaded at no charge via iBooks.

I had this exact same issue. My ipad 1 worked just fine on my wi-fi, got ipad 2 an hour ago and wi-fi did not work. Here is how I fixed it for now -

1. Tap Settings -> WiFi
2. Tap > icon next to your wireless network name
3. You should see DHCP, BootP, Static
4. Tap Static and configure a static IP address, subnet mask, Router, DNS
5. Voila the wireless works

I know this is not a good solution as when you go out to for example Starbucks this would have to be reverted but as long as you are at home the internet will work fine.

I also have spent the entire evening trying to get my brand new iPad 2 running the new iOS 4.3 to work on my home router (Netgear WNDR3700 Dual-Band). The router already works perfectly with an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 3GS and it worked perfectly with my iPad 1 (which I sold to get the 2).

No matter what I try, I just keep getting the 'Unable to connect to network' error. Very frustrating.

Steffany,

It could be a couple of things. I know you really want to get this to work so try the following.

Enter the setup for your NetGear router (see the manual) and turn off the security. If the iPad can connect with the security turned to off then it is working properly. In that case you may need to update the firmware on your router or change the security to WPA2. WEP is never a good security setting and Apple devices don't like to work with WEP.

If it does now work with security turned off, you should reset the iPad back to factory defaults and try again.

I would also try connecting to another network (Starbucks, McDonalds, Panera Bread) to see if you can get online there.

This article had a complete set of steps to try.
