Forgot WiFi router password, after multiple failed attempts now locked out

I forgot my WiFi network password while trying to join my new ipad2. Tried multiple combinations of my usual passwords unsuccessfully. Now as soon as I attempt to input a password, the "join" button is unaddressable (greyed out). I presume I have been locked out after the failed attempts. I have reset network settings but am still unable to attempt to join. My original iPad is connected and running fine. Is this a router security issue or an iPad issue?

It is a router issue.
You need to reset it.

1Password is an app that remembers passwords for websites. You can add secure notes in it and add the router password if you want.
The router has locked out your iPad so you need to reset the router.
If that does not do it, you will need to log onto your router and unlockmthe Mac address of your iPad.
Consult your router user manual.
