iPad 2 Still Suffers from Yellow and White Light Leakage Issues (Spots)
The light leakage issue on the iPad has been around since last year. Every iPad 1 that I have ever owned and seen has had this issue to some extent. The bottom line is that I have owned a few iPads and ALL OF THEM HAD Yellow and White LIGHT LEAKAGE ISSUES. It might be less noticeable on some devices, but this issue has been around since the iPad 1. I wish that Apple would sometimes listen to its customers before releasing updated products. I have notified Apple about this issue multiple times last year. I waited 5 hours in line today hoping that this light leakage issue was resolved in this version of the product, and all I can say is that it is even worse than before.
Apple iPads last year also had an issue where the left side of the screen was slightly brighter than the right side.
Almost all LED and LCD screens have some white light leakage issues, but I have to say that the iPads exhibit an abnormal amount (plus its yellow in some areas of the screen). The flashlighting or light leakage can be seen when looking at dark backgrounds or black user interface elements under lower lighting conditions.
The reason I stick with Apple is because the company does build good products. I just wish they would stick to their roots and have attention to detail. I use Android devices as well and no my Motorola Xoom did not have issues with light leakage to this extent.
I can almost guarantee you that you just don't know what to look for to identify the issue. Comments like yours is what makes people go out to exchange their products hoping to get one without issues, but to only find out that they have the same issues.
No, I look for good products and solutions to problems that I identify. I am just trying to let people know that exchanging their iPad might not be a solution. If you don't own the device or don't have issues with your device, then move on.
Same here... I have it on the left side of tablet both corners and a little towards middle. I spotted it before even Googling the issue. I have the iPad 2 64 WiFi White model.
@Johnathan Burger - Where do you get he just joined the forum? His join date says Sep 2010... Because you don't have the issues doesn't make you the authority mate. Why don't you give others a chance to confirm before you go all gung ho on somebody please 🙂
@Philly_Phan - Same for you, it's an obvious issue if you have the symptoms...
I definitely see yellow backlight bleeding around the bottom egdges. It's noticeable enough to take away from dark images and movie scenes. I hope this yellow glue theory is true and that it'll go away.
