iWeb Directory Path

I have set up my 1st website ever using iWeb and it works fine. I'm a complete beginner at this.
where do I find the directory path where I created my website using iweb on my iMac?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.5), Macbook Pro, iPod Touch, iPad

Hi there,

Do you mean the file which contains all of your data for your website (which is stored on your Mac) or the files which you have uploaded to the server?

I'm not sure so can you tell me where I can find both (stored on my iMac) and the files I have uploaded to the server via iWeb.

iWeb stores its information in the domain.sites2 file.

It's here : ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/

where ~ is your Home Directory.

iWeb publishes the pages where you tell it to publish.

If you uploaded the files yourself, then try to remember it where you put them.

Click the site name at the top of the left column in the iWeb to get to the Publishing Settings page.

If you published to a local folder you will see the path to those files stored on your Mac.

If you used the iWeb FTP you will see the path to the files on the server.

If you used the iWeb FTP you will see the path to the files on the server, the settings I have are server address, user name and password all with information in and protocol FTP but in the heading directory/path this is empty.

If directory/path is empty you are uploading to the root folder which is fine.

What have you entered into the server address field?

You should be able to reach your site fro the URL....

http://www.domain-name.com/Site-Name/

... where "Site-Name" is the name you gave your website in iWeb at the top of the left column.

I have tried that but when I click publish site in iWeb it opens safari and comes up my url then my site name then /index.html with the error message The document name you requested could not be found on this server.

However when I type the url into the address link it brings up my website and the address it shows in the address bar is url/sitename.html some problem with one saying index.html and the other html

It sounds like the external index.html file has not been uploaded.

Rather than use the iWeb FTP, you should try an FTP app like the freeware Cyberduck. This will let you "see" the files on the server side.

http://cyberduck.ch/

There should be a folder with the same name of your site in iWeb plus an index.html file.

To get more help with this you need to give the URL to your site.
