iPad 2, iOS 4
This should be a feature, i'm very surprised it's not included. I hereby throw my hat in the ring for creating demand for an obvious mistaken omission.
Doing my part to add demand!
And here I thought I was losing my mind with this one. Definitely a security issue that needs to be resolved. I guess this "all or nothing" approach is part of Apple's "keep it simple" mindset? Please add this to the next release!
++1 for demand here. Image blocking with selective loading is available on every major email client, both desktop and web-based, and has been for years. This is surprisingly sloppy for Apple, and it is indeed exposes its (iPad) customers to unnecessary risk.
We have had this request from everyone we have issued an iPad to since our default is to block images for security, bandwidth usage, and storage on device. We have to be able to load image on a selective basis.
Does anyone know if this is included in iOS 5? It really is a big deal. Hope we've been heard!
So, Apple, up to iOS 5 now and it still looks like there is no way to disable "automatically download images in emails" AND THEN manually load them for emails you trust. What is going on? This is a MAJOR security problem! I find it incredibly hard to beleive this has been overlooked for so long. In my opinion this is worse than the MacDefender problem earlier this year, and you managed to patch that up quickly enough... So get your act together!
I want this feature badly. Please implement as I'm sure it can't be too hard.

The message I sent from the feedback page:
Hi,
I'm very surprised there is no way to mass delete emails in mail on iPad without loading the email with images.
It is a security issue to load images, plus it lets spammers know my account is good. It seems against the Apple way to give an advantage to spammers at your customer's expense.
Please add the option to load images on an email by email basis when 'load remote images' is off basis by adding a button to load images like there is in mail for Mac.
Another solution to this problem would be to stop loading emails with images when mass deleting. If the email is being deleted it could be assumed I don't want to load the email. It takes up bandwidth and again show the email as a valid email to spammers.
Regards
It s ridiculous that this has not been fixed. A very basic feature that closes a big security issue. I gave my two cents to the feedback page.
