Watch rented movies on Apple tv AND Mac?

I rented a movie via Apple tv and was unable to watch it again on my Mac.

Have I missed something?

The new Apple TV has no storage: when you 'rent' a movie you simply stream it from the site and it isn't stored anywhere. Consequently it's not available on your Mac. In order to watch it there you need to download it again, which presumably you can still do during the rental period.

Of course it's streamed. The question is: Will I be charged again when I rent it again on my Mac?

I don't know for certain. The impression I get is that during the rental period you can watch it on any device that's logged in to your account; obviously once the rental period has expired you would indeed have to buy it again.

If you download on Apple TV you cannot watch on any other device or computer. You would need to rent on computer if you wish to watch on both computer and Apple TV.

this is so whack! this is like the 6th rental which has stopped buffering. i have done eveyrthing from restarting my apple tv to rebooting my airport express!

i dont know why they sell stuff if it doesn't work. i have a good 10 mbps connection. and downloading on my mac works perfectly fine even for HD content.

To those that may be lost:

Although this is nicely stated in a knowledge base: iTunes Store: Movie rental frequently asked questions (FAQ) => Can I play my rental on more than one device?. Tucked away nice a neat away from where normal people would actually read. Most people would get the impression from the Movie's section of Apple's iTune's Store's "Learn More About Renting and Buying Movies" web page that all you need to do is rent from any device and everything is fully transferable; but, the real fact is Apple is misleading people (and I'm a MAC fan, and have been for a loooong time).

I hope Apple re-writes the web page so people don't get confused.
