I have never used AirPlay before, so this is all new to me. Updated iPad to 4.3, updated Apple TV and enabled AirPlay on Apple TV. Were is the icon suppose to appear. So far I don't see it anywhere, but then I don't know where to look. Is it suppose to appear on the iPad desktop?

When you play videos and music, there will be an icon that looks like a rectangle with a arrow going inside of it near the 'next' buttons.

I found the icon when I went into my photo's and I was able to airplay photos to the TV.

I don't have any videos or music on my ipad at this time, so that will have to wait ... unless do you know if the iPad ABC Player App will work using AirPlay?

    Sadly it will not.

    YouTube works, though.

That's too bad, that would have been a great feature.

Do you know if it is possible to AirPlay the photos in iPhotos on my iMac to the TV through AppleTV?

I don't own a Mac yet so I wouldn't know, but I'm sure there is a way to 'Turn on Home Sharing' in iPhoto with one of the menus.

Not sure if this helps, but if you go into iPhoto "preferences", there is a "sharing" tab. You can check the box to "share photos", but I'm not sure if/how this works with Apple tv. I just bought Apple TV and haven't set it up yet.

    Hi Barbara,

Tap your iPod icon in the iPad Dock.

Just to the right of the volume slider on the left you should see this icon. That's the AirPlay icon.

Tap the icon and select ATV or if you have speakers connected to an Airport Base Station, you can stream from there.

Not all apps support AirPlay. I use Pandora all the time but have found I have to select my wi fi speakers using the iPod app then go back and start Pandora.

I did find the sharing tab in iPhoto preferences and will give it a try ... thanks! Once you get your Apple TV set up, I would love to hear what features you discover.

I did as you suggested with iPod on my iPad and did find the AirPlay icon and ATV. Thank you for the information, it was very helpful!

Thank you for all your suggestions, you have been a great help

I did set it up last night. Was able to get everything up and working. The suggestion I made in my other post (about iPhoto preferences) really had nothing to do with anything. My iphoto library was readily available on Apple TV. The only trouble I had was viewing my iMovies - but learned that I had to "share" my movies in iMovie by exporting using Quicktime, saving it to my desktop, and then dragging it into iTunes. Worked like a charm!

One comment, last night I had the Airplay icon on my Ipod Touch when playing music but now it's disappeared. Any suggestions on what happened? I'm using Airplay to send music thru my Airplay equipeed AV receiver. Thanks!

P.S. My Ipad2 isn't having this problem. Both devices are running the latest IOS
