Photos/Videos mirrored in reverse...(iPad 2)

Have I missed a setting or something as all photos and videos taken on my iPad 2 appear in reverse when viewing them in the camera roll?

NOTE: Sorry if this has already been asked 🙂

That's a Free Version of Talk Photo, which will solve all of your problems with this issue.

There is a simple FLIP button on this app that will INVERT the live feed. So you can see a Reflection or a Non-Reversed Image with the Front Facing Camera. AND you can FLIP the Rear Camera.

There is also Zoom in and out, Split screen and Light.

So if you decide to take a photo of yourself infront of a Mirror with the Rear Camera, you can Flip the Rear Camera's Live Feed and see a Non-Reversed Image of yourself LIVE, since a Flipped Reflection is Non-Reversed.

I'll have to try a little later, but in general, Apple's apps reverse the video signal when you're capturing so that it's more like a mirror. Look at your iPad in the Photo Booth app, then close one of your eyes. You should see that, instead of showing the eye on the opposite side of the screen closing (which would be correct), it shows the eye on the same side of the screen closing (like a mirror would).

The downside is that when you play these videos back, they appear to be "reversed". I'll go grab my iPad and see if I can reproduce this.

Here is what happens when I use the camera...

Front facing camera when viewing the preview the image is flipped. When viewing the photo taken from the front facing camera the photo is displayed correctly, not flipped. Same with video.

On the other hand, the back facing camera the imagine is correct both in the preview and viewing the photo. Same with video...

I'm having the same problem with my ipad. My front face camera shows a mirror image, then reverses the image after it is taken. I know the reversed image is indeed the correct image but why does the front camera have to display a mirror image in the first place? Why can't it display an already reversed image before taking a picture, like webcams do? It's annoying because I like to see exactly how the picture will come out before I take it. The picture looks off when it's reversed after it's taken.

I also updated the OS when I first got my iPad so I'm wondering if this issue is due to the updated OS or was it always like this? I know people with android front facing camera phones were having the same issue.

Thanks for any info u might have

Thank you very much for you comments. I do have the same problem with the ipad 3 and I would really appreciate being able to choose when using the front camera if I wish it to have a mirror effect or not. Sincerely, it does seem like the image is not the same as the one pictured when stored in the Camera roll. Thank you for any tip or solution you might have to this issue.

20 months later and this is still the case. Not happy! Tried to use an app that has a photobooth style stage and has you align your face into an overlayed outline - cannot align face with overlay because the preview screen where I carefully aligned my face into the outlines is not what comes out! Having the photo not be what is displayed on the screen makes no sense. Have a toggle to turn that **** on or off!

The solution is a Non- Reversing Mirror or Anti-Mirror.

Check Me Out (posture analyzer) is a Non Reversing Mirror and it allows you to write on the photos with lines and free hand writing. It also allows you to locate a specialist (chiro, ortho, massage, and PT), and it also has 8 neck and back conditions with an x-ray example to be informative. How do I know all of this??? Becaue I am the one that created Check Me Out. Its on Itunes for Iphone and Ipad. It is also on Android, but is only a Non Reversing Mirror. Check It Out. I promise you will like it. I had the idea 30 years ago because I am a twin. My twin and I would always style our hair different, and when I would style my hair to the left (it looked great in the mirror, but I looked like a geek in photos). This is why we all do not like how we look in photos (Why we don't think we are PHTOTGENIC). Waaahaaa!!! We can only view ourselves with a mirror or in some sort of reflection, which all are reversed. Because our faces are symmetrical (not perfectly though), we appear the same, but letters and words tend not to be symmetrical, so when we wear a shirt and look in the mirror, it is more obvious when we see non symmetrical things reversed. So, seeing our reflection is something familiar with us, but seeing our Non Reversed Image, is not familiar to us, so we don't like it. True Mirror is a non reversing mirror they sell for $200 for the 12inch by 12inch size and $1400ish for the full length TrueMirror, and those are not portable. The app is only $2.99 for the Iphone and $4.99 for the Ipad and they are portable and solve the non reversing issue. My app has other features too. Type "Waaahaaa" and you will find the app since my app company name is Waaahaaa Apps. Enjoy, and any constructive criticism about the app is welcome, I am always trying to improve the app.
