How to connect with Facetime?

How to connect with Facetime?

I can connect with another ip4 using their phone number but not with their email address. Is this the only way to connect?
When I try to connect with email over wifi, I get a message telling me that the other person is busy, but that is clearly not the case...

When calling an iPhone 4 user: Use the phone number of the person you are calling. When calling an iPad 2, iPod touch (4th generation), or FaceTime for Mac user: Use the email address designated for FaceTime of the person you are calling.

So if that person with the other ip4 is overseas and I call their number does that make it a long distance call or is it really just an internet connection over wifi?

No. All FaceTime calls are done over WiFi.

If you place a regular call first to confirm the person has their iPhone connected to an available wi-fi network and then switch to a FaceTime call, you will be charged for an international call for the portion of the call before switching from the regular call to FaceTime. If you initiate a FaceTime call with FaceTime for the contact from the start, no charge.

When we call from one country to another using Face Time through iPhone 4s can we just call the other party using +(countrycode)(then the phone number without 0). If we directly tap the contact number in the contact list will there be a connection fee for an international call by our celluer provider.

When I try to connect with my iTouch, I have no problems. Both my Apple Imac computer and my iPod 2 tell me that they can not "connect". In settings, I enter my password and get the same message.

What do I eed to do now?
